About Us
St Catherines Nursing Home is in Letchworth Garden City. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside help with daily living, for residents living with dementia and for people whose physical disability means they need skilled support. We also care for some younger adults with complex health needs.
Nurses on duty at all hours mean we can manage wound and pressure care, continence and catheter needs, diabetes, pain relief and end of life care, working closely with GPs, district nurses and hospital teams. It also means that when somebody's health declines they can usually stay with us, among familiar faces, rather than moving at the worst possible moment.
The clinical side is only part of it. The rest is food people look forward to, company when it is wanted, quiet when it is not, and staff who know how a particular person likes things done. Dementia care in particular depends on that kind of familiarity, and on giving people time to find their words.
Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, including support after a hospital discharge.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Hertfordshire are welcome to visit.
