About Oak Lodge
Oak Lodge is a nursing home in Basingstoke, Hampshire. We provide nursing care for older people, including people living with physical disabilities, with registered nurses on duty. Our clinical work covers long term conditions, wound and pressure area care, nutrition and hydration, continence support, mobility and medication, in close contact with GPs, district nurses, therapists and hospital teams. For residents with physical disabilities, a great deal of the work is practical: the right equipment, the right positioning, enough time for transfers, and careful attention to what somebody can do for themselves so that assistance does not quietly become substitution. What matters as much to us is that none of this takes over a person's day. Somebody living here still chooses when to get up, what to eat, where to sit and who to see, and is spoken to about their own care rather than around. Families are welcome and we ask them to stay closely involved, because they know things about their relative that we would never learn otherwise. Respite stays are available for people needing nursing support for a short period, and for families who provide care at home and need a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of that, and we are aware it is something we have to keep earning rather than something we now own. Please come and visit us.
