About Us
The Oaks is a nursing home in Greenwich in south east London. We care for older people and younger adults whose health needs call for qualified nursing, and we support people living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. Respite stays are available too.
With nurses on duty around the clock we can manage medication, wounds, continence, long term conditions and end of life care here rather than sending people back and forth to hospital. We work closely with local GPs, district nurses, therapists and mental health teams, and we ask for specialist input early.
What we try to avoid is a home that runs on routine alone. People here have had long and varied lives, many of them in this part of London, and we want the day to reflect who somebody is rather than what they need. That comes from asking families and, wherever possible, the person themselves about the things that would otherwise never appear in a care plan.
We are used to supporting people whose needs sit across several areas at once, where dementia and physical illness and low mood all overlap. That calls for patience and for staff who talk to each other, and we build our shifts accordingly.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to visit, meet the nursing team and see the home for yourself before deciding anything.
