About Us
Highfield Care Home is a nursing home in Saffron Walden, Essex. We provide nursing care for older people and for younger adults, including residents living with dementia, people with a physical disability and those with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite care for planned short stays.
Having nurses on the team means people can stay with us as their health needs change rather than being moved on at an already difficult moment. Medication, wound care, continence, nutrition and the steady daily work of managing long term conditions are handled here by a team who know each resident and who notice the small changes that matter. Families often say that is the part that lets them stop worrying quite so much.
Around that sits the ordinary life of the house. Residents decide when they get up, what they eat, where they spend their time and how much company they want. Meals are proper meals and we take note of what people genuinely enjoy. Some like everything that is going on in the communal rooms; others prefer their own room and their own routine, and both are entirely reasonable.
Dementia support shapes how the whole home runs. We keep surroundings familiar, avoid rushing anybody, and take time to understand what settles a particular person rather than applying one approach to everybody.
Respite stays are arranged with the same thought as a permanent move. Visitors are welcome without ceremony, and we would rather families felt part of things. Please contact us if you would like to look round.
