About Us
St Peters Court is a nursing home in Maldon, with qualified nurses on duty at all times. We care for older people and younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, mental health needs and physical disabilities. Respite stays are part of what we do.
People usually come to us when health needs have grown beyond what support at home or a residential home can meet, and our task is to meet those needs without letting them become the whole of somebody's life.
Nursing here means consistent attention to the things that keep a person comfortable and well: medicines, mobility, nutrition and hydration, skin, continence and pain, reviewed properly and talked through with the person and their family rather than handled quietly in the background. We involve GPs, district nurses and community teams early rather than late.
Around that, ordinary life carries on. People rise when they wake, sit where they choose, keep their own furniture and photographs about them, and eat food that suits their taste as well as any clinical need. Where there is a physical disability we think hard about equipment, layout and timing. With dementia we rely on knowing somebody well, gathering their history with their family and keeping it current.
When somebody is nearing the end of life we aim to be honest, present and unhurried. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
