About Us
The New Deanery Care Home is a nursing home in Braintree. We care for older people and younger adults with nursing needs, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available.
We should be plain about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We accepted the findings, we have been working through them, and we would rather raise it ourselves and answer your questions than have you come across it later.
Having qualified nurses on duty at all hours means we can manage complex health needs, medication, wound and continence care and care at the end of life without somebody having to move on again. It also means changes in a resident's health are noticed by people who know them well.
Residents have their own rooms and their own routines, and we ask at the outset how somebody has always liked their day to run. For people living with dementia we keep the day steady and unhurried and we learn what reassures a particular person. For those with physical disabilities we pay attention to equipment, transfers and how the building is arranged.
Families are welcome through the day and we keep in touch regularly rather than only when something has gone wrong.
Please come and look round, ask us difficult questions, and speak to residents and relatives while you are here.
