About Us
Granville Court is a nursing home in Hornsea, East Yorkshire, supporting a wide range of adults whose needs include nursing care. Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We support younger adults as well, we offer respite stays, and we support people living with eating disorders.
A mixed household asks a great deal of a staff team, and we would rather be honest about that than present it as effortless. It means we cannot run one routine and expect it to suit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person.
Having nursing knowledge in the building matters particularly for people with learning disabilities, whose physical health problems are too often attributed to their disability rather than investigated. Somebody here is watching for the health issue behind a change in behaviour rather than simply managing the behaviour.
Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking residents, and the people who know them best, what we should be doing differently.
