About Pine Martin Grange
Pine Martin Grange is a nursing home in Wareham, Dorset. We care for older people and younger adults whose needs include nursing, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are part of what we do. Nursing on site means health needs are met by people who already know the person, which usually means problems are noticed sooner, and it means nobody has to move on because their condition has progressed. The part that takes deliberate effort is keeping the atmosphere domestic. Once a nursing home starts running to ward habits, residents stop being asked about their own day and visitors begin behaving like hospital visitors, so mealtimes, fresh air, prompt help and privacy are guarded on purpose. We also pay attention to pain in people who cannot easily report it. Unexplained restlessness is usually a message rather than a behaviour, and reading it as one is among the more important things our staff do. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come at a mealtime and see whether anybody is waiting for help to eat, because that tells you a good deal.
