About Abbey View

We are Abbey View, a nursing home in Sherborne, Dorset. We care for older people who need qualified nursing as well as support with daily living, and we also look after younger adults with nursing needs. Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of that and also clear about what it means. It is not a promise that nothing will ever go wrong here. It reflects the fact that we know the people we care for well, that our nursing and care teams are properly supported, and that when something needs putting right we deal with it rather than explaining it away. In daily life that shows in small ways. People get up and go to bed when they choose. Meals are what somebody actually wants to eat. Nursing needs, from medication to wound care to managing pain, are attended to without the place feeling like a hospital ward. We learn the history and habits of each person, because that is what allows staff to notice quickly when somebody is not themselves. Where we care for younger adults, we plan around their own interests and independence rather than a routine built for much older people. Please ring us and come and see the home.
