About Manor Nursing Home
We are a nursing home in Honiton, caring for older people whose needs require qualified nursing alongside help with daily living. Having registered nurses on duty means medication, pain, wounds, continence and the difficulties people have with eating, drinking and moving can be managed properly and without waiting, and that a change in somebody's health is noticed early rather than late. That matters in itself, and it often makes the difference between a person staying settled here and being sent into hospital. Necessary as the clinical work is, it is not the whole of a life. People here still choose when they get up, what they wear, what they would like to eat and who they want beside them, and we try to make sure the nursing does not crowd those things out. Much of what makes a day good is small: a hot drink at the time it is wanted, help with washing given without hurry, somebody noticing that a person has gone quiet and sitting down with them. We work closely with general practitioners, community teams, therapists and hospital staff and keep families properly informed. Where someone is nearing the end of life, our concern is comfort, dignity and the company of those they love. Respite stays are available as well. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and see us.
