About Maple Leaf House
We are Maple Leaf House, a nursing home in Ripley, Derbyshire. We care for older people and younger adults needing nursing support, including people living with dementia, and we accept respite admissions alongside permanent places. Nursing care is available here at every hour of the day, which allows us to look after people whose health is complicated or unpredictable, and to support people at the end of life in a place they already know. For residents living with dementia, our approach is to shape the day around the person rather than expect them to fit a timetable. Where someone is distressed, we look for the reason behind it, because there almost always is one, and it is usually simpler than it first appears. Families tell us things no assessment captures, so we ask early and we keep asking. Visiting is not something we ration. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than leave it for someone to find. We know what was identified, we have a plan for putting it right, and we are willing to go through both with any family considering a place here.
