About Woodhall Park Nursing Home
Woodhall Park Nursing Home is in Derby, providing nursing care for older people and younger adults across Derbyshire, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs and people who have a physical disability. Qualified nurses are here at every hour, and that is what makes the rest possible. Complex medication, wound care, attention to nutrition, pain and skin, and the close observation that catches deterioration before it becomes an emergency are routine work for us. Many of the people who move in have spent months going in and out of hospital, and the first thing that changes is that the cycle stops. We are conscious of how easily a nursing home slides into doing things to people rather than with them, and our defence against that is attention. Knowing who wants the curtains open at six and who does not want to see a soul before nine. Noticing when a resident with a physical disability is being left in their room because getting them out takes two staff and ten minutes. Treating a low mood as a reason to sit down rather than a symptom to record. For residents with mental health needs we work patiently and alongside the teams already involved. With dementia we rely on familiar faces and an unhurried pace rather than correction. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather be judged on a Tuesday afternoon than on a certificate, so come and see us.
