About Us
Leighton Forest is a nursing home in Leighton Buzzard in Central Bedfordshire. We care for older people who need nursing support, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we take respite bookings.
We would rather tell you this ourselves. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We are not going to talk around it. We took the findings seriously, we have an improvement plan we are working through, and we would much prefer you heard it from us than found it somewhere else. Come and see us and ask exactly what has changed and what is still outstanding, and we will answer plainly.
What has not changed is what we are trying to do. Having qualified nurses here at all hours means people with genuine clinical need can stay with us as circumstances change, rather than being moved on at the point familiarity matters most. Wounds, pain, continence, nutrition, medication and safe movement are all managed here.
Alongside that we work at the ordinary courtesies, because clinical care done thoughtlessly turns a person into a schedule. People choose when they get up, what they wear and how the day goes. We knock, we explain, and we wait for an answer.
Improvement comes from listening to residents and relatives and then acting on it. That is where our effort is, and anybody is welcome to hold us to it.
