About Us
Waterside Lodge is a nursing home in Todmorden. We support older people and younger adults whose needs include nursing care, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays.
Because nursing is provided here, there is no point at which somebody becomes too unwell to stay. That stability matters more than it sounds.
We work hard at keeping the nursing from setting the tone of the place. A nursing home can drift into feeling like a ward, and once that happens people stop being asked what they want and days lose any shape of their own. So we keep our attention on ordinary things: meals worth eating, getting outside when the weather allows, help without a long wait, privacy, and being spoken to as somebody with a working life and a family.
Dignity in personal care is something we are particular about. Being washed or helped to the lavatory should not cost somebody their self respect.
Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and slightly wary of it, because a rating describes a period rather than a permanent state. What keeps it true is the same daily attention to individual people that earned it.
