About Lodge

Burnham Lodge is a nursing home in Burnham in Buckinghamshire. We care for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available. Having qualified nurses on site around the clock means people whose health is genuinely complicated can stay with us as things change, rather than being moved on at the point familiarity counts for most. Wounds, pain, continence, nutrition, medication and safe movement are all managed properly here. Because our residents have very different needs, we plan care person by person. What settles somebody with dementia is not what helps somebody living with a long standing mental health condition. Where sight or hearing loss is in the picture, small habits carry the weight: saying who you are as you come into a room, leaving furniture where it belongs, making sure glasses and hearing aids are clean and working. We also guard against clinical care quietly turning a person into a schedule. People choose when they get up, what they wear, what is on the plate and how the afternoon goes. We knock, we explain, and we wait to be told it is all right. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
