About Sheldon Ridge
Sheldon Ridge is a nursing home in Bradford. We care for people who need qualified nursing alongside everyday support, which includes older people, younger adults, people with a physical disability and adults with a learning disability or who are autistic. Having registered nurses on site around the clock means that medication, wound and pressure care and changing health needs are managed here, and a person does not have to keep moving on as their health changes. That continuity is often what families are looking for most. It would be easy for a nursing home to become a clinical place, and we work hard against that. A good day here is measured by whether someone got up when they wanted, ate something they enjoyed, saw a face they recognised and had a conversation that was not about their health. The nursing is the foundation, not the point. Where we support autistic adults or people with a learning disability, we make sure communication genuinely works and that routines stay predictable, because a hospital style environment is the last thing that helps. Respite stays are available for families needing a break and for people recovering after a hospital admission who are not ready to manage at home. We work closely with general practitioners, district nurses and hospital teams. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
