About Reablement Service

We are the Warwickshire reablement team, based in Bedworth and working with older people in their own homes across the county. Reablement is short term and deliberately so. We come in at the point where managing at home has become difficult, usually after a fall, an illness or a spell in hospital, and we help people get back to doing as much for themselves as they can. That might mean practising getting in and out of a chair safely, rebuilding confidence on the stairs, sorting out equipment, or simply being there while somebody tries something again for the first time since they were unwell. The principle underneath all of it is that doing less for people, so they can do more for themselves, is the point. It is slower in the moment and it is harder than taking over, and it is what makes the difference between someone needing long term support and someone managing on their own again. We work closely with therapists, district nurses, GPs and social workers, and we are honest when reablement has gone as far as it usefully can and ongoing support is what is actually needed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are glad of it, and we know it has to be earned again with every person we work with.
