Newland House is a home care agency in Hull (HU6 7QT).

About Newland House

Newland House supports adults in their own homes in Hull, working mainly with younger adults who have a learning disability and with autistic people. What we offer is practical support for an independent life. That may include help with personal care and medication, but for most of the people we work with it is broader than that, covering cooking and shopping, keeping a home in order, managing money and appointments, using transport, and taking part in work, study or the things someone enjoys. We agree support with the person, in a way they can genuinely take part in, and we review it as circumstances change. Understanding how each individual communicates is central to our work, and we take time to learn it rather than assuming. A settled routine, careful attention to sensory needs and familiar staff are often what make the difference between a good day and a difficult one. Where someone is working towards doing more for themselves, we support the practice and step back when we can, which asks for patience and for staff who know the person well. We keep teams small and consistent for that reason. We work alongside families, advocates and other professionals where the person wants that, and we keep them at the centre of those conversations. If you would like to talk about support, we are happy to hear from you.
