About Us

We are Direct Care and Support, and we provide support to adults in their own homes in Carshalton and the surrounding parts of Sutton. We are a small operation and we think that is a strength, because it means the people we support are known rather than processed. Much of our work is with adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and with people living with mental ill health, including many younger adults who are building a life of their own. We also support older people who need help to carry on living at home. In practice that covers personal care where it is needed, medication, health appointments, cooking, shopping, cleaning, budgeting and keeping a tenancy going. Just as importantly, it covers the things that make a week worth having, whether that is work, a course, a club, the gym or seeing friends and family. Our aim is to work out what somebody can do, what they want to learn and where they genuinely need us, and then to step back wherever stepping back is right. We pay close attention to how each person communicates and to what makes a day feel manageable, and we record what works so it is not lost.
