About Us

Here at Norfolk and Suffolk Healthcare, we provide home care support to people living in and around Ipswich, Suffolk. We come to you, which means the people we support can stay in their own homes, surrounded by familiar faces, routines and belongings — the things that genuinely matter to day to day wellbeing.

We work with a wide range of individuals, including older people, younger adults, and those living with a learning disability, autism, mental health conditions or a physical disability. Because our work spans so many different circumstances and needs, we take time to understand each person properly before we begin. No two people are the same, and the support we offer reflects that.

Home care done well is about more than turning up on time and completing a checklist. It is about building trust with the person you are supporting and, where relevant, with their family too. We know that inviting someone into your home takes a degree of confidence in them, and we do not take that lightly. Our aim is always to make that experience feel straightforward and reassuring from the very first contact.

We are based in Ipswich and have a good working knowledge of the local area, which helps when it comes to connecting people with community support, local health teams and other resources that can make a real difference alongside the care we provide directly.

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission, and while we are currently in the process of being rated, we welcome transparency and are always open to questions about how we work and what people can expect from us.

If you are exploring care options for yourself or someone close to you, we are happy to have an honest conversation about how we might be able to help.

More about the care at Norfolk and Suffolk Healthcare Limited

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Familiar surroundings often matter most as people get older, and support at home can cover help with washing and dressing, prompting or administering medication, preparing meals and simply having someone to talk to during the day. Norfolk and Suffolk Healthcare is registered with the CQC to provide personal care to older adults in and around Ipswich, though it has not yet been inspected or rated. Indicative home care rates across the East tend to sit between £28 and £33 an hour, with Suffolk County Council funded packages usually agreed at a lower rate. Families should ask how visits are scheduled, whether the same carers attend each time, what happens if a call runs late, and how any overnight or waking night support would be arranged and staffed.

Learning Disability / Autism

Good support for adults with a learning disability or autism tends to hinge on consistent routines, respect for sensory preferences and steady work on everyday independence skills such as cooking, budgeting and getting out locally. Norfolk and Suffolk Healthcare is registered to provide personal care to this group at home. Packages are usually commissioned by Suffolk County Council or health services, with regular reviews of outcomes. Ask how care plans are built with the person and their circle.

Mental Health

Stability, predictable routine and being treated with dignity make a real difference for adults living with long term mental health conditions, alongside practical help with medication, appointments and daily structure. Support of this kind is within the scope of Norfolk and Suffolk Healthcare's CQC registration. Families and social workers should ask what experience the team has with specific diagnoses, how relapse or crisis situations are handled, and how they liaise with community mental health services in Suffolk.

Physical Disability

Practical help with transfers, personal care, meal preparation and getting out of the house is often central for adults with a physical disability, alongside encouragement to keep doing the things they can manage independently. Norfolk and Suffolk Healthcare is registered to deliver personal care in this area. Because support is provided in the person's own home, it is worth asking whether the team is used to working with hoists, profiling beds or other equipment already in place, and how any moving and handling risks are assessed.

Younger Adults

Adults under 65 receiving support at home in Ipswich often want help that fits around work, study, relationships or hobbies rather than a routine designed for older clients. Norfolk and Suffolk Healthcare is registered to support younger adults through its home care service. Ask how visit times flex around a working week, and how goals like getting to college, the gym or social events are built into the plan.
