About Us
Maplewood Independent Living provides care and support to people in their own homes in Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding area. We work with older people and people living with dementia, with people who have physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, and with younger adults who need support to live independently. Our visits are built around the person's own routine rather than a fixed package. That might be a call first thing to help with washing, dressing and medication so the day starts safely, support at several points with meals, mobility, laundry and the house, or a hand to get out to appointments, the shops and the people who matter. For many of the households we visit, particularly people living alone in the villages, the company matters as much as anything practical. Covering a rural patch means being realistic about travel, so we plan rounds carefully, arrive when we said we would and telephone if we are held up. We agree the plan with the person and anyone they want involved, write it in plain words and review it as needs change. The Care Quality Commission has not yet published an overall rating for us.
