About Us

At Apollo Home Healthcare North West, we provide home care support to people living in Heywood, Rochdale and the surrounding areas. Our work centres on helping people live well in their own homes, with the comfort, familiarity and independence that matters so much to so many of the people we support.

We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, eating disorders, and alcohol or drug misuse. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach. The people we support have different lives, different needs and different goals, and we try to reflect that in the care we provide.

We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which we see as a reflection of the consistency and thoughtfulness our team brings to their work day in and day out. That rating matters to us, not as a badge, but as confirmation that the people we support and their families can place their trust in us.

What we hear most from the people we work with is that they want to feel listened to and treated with respect in their own homes. We take that seriously. Our team takes time to get to know each person properly, understanding what they value, what they find difficult, and what a good day looks like for them. That knowledge shapes everything we do.

If you are looking for home care support for yourself or someone you care about, we would welcome the chance to have a conversation. There is no pressure and no obligation. We are here to help you work out whether we are the right fit for your situation.

More about the care at Apollo Home Healthcare Limited-North West

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Growing older at home tends to work until one specific thing stops working, usually the bath, the stairs or the cooker. Apollo Home Healthcare North West is registered for older person care. Visits cover washing and dressing, medication prompts, meal preparation and a measure of company. Rochdale Council carries out needs and financial assessments and may contribute to the cost for those eligible. Ask how the rota is organised, how many carers a person will meet, and what happens when a call is missed. It is sensible to confirm whether evening and night support is available.

Dementia

The familiar is protective in dementia and the unfamiliar is not, which makes continuity of carer a clinical matter rather than a courtesy. Dementia care is one of the registrations held by Apollo Home Healthcare North West. Home provides the familiarity, but the kitchen, the stairs and the front door usually need reassessing as the condition progresses. Ask what carers do when someone is agitated, frightened or refusing help, and how such incidents are written up and passed on. It is fair to ask what dementia training staff receive and who oversees their practice. Decide in advance how the package would grow if supervision became necessary for most of the day.

Learning Disability / Autism

Keeping decisions with the person is the test of good support for an adult with a learning disability or autism, alongside steady routines and attention to sensory limits. Apollo Home Healthcare North West is registered for learning disability and autism. Most such packages are commissioned by the council with a written plan and reviews, so ask how the person contributes to those reviews.

Mental Health

Mental health conditions are easier to live with when the week has a shape, medication is managed and someone notices a shift in mood early. Mental health is among the categories Apollo Home Healthcare North West is registered to cover. Ask what experience carers have, how a crisis is escalated out of hours, and how the agency works with community mental health teams.

Physical Disability

Equipment, doorways and the height of furniture decide most of what a physically disabled adult can do unaided at home. Physical disability falls within the registration held by Apollo Home Healthcare North West. Check who requests an occupational therapy assessment, whether carers will use installed equipment, and how a task requiring two carers is staffed.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Keeping the furniture where it belongs, saying who you are on arrival and speaking face on are the practices that matter where sight or hearing has gone. Apollo Home Healthcare North West is registered to support visual and hearing impairment. Families should ask how each person's communication preferences are recorded and how an unfamiliar carer is prepared before the first call.

Younger Adults

A package built for a retired person's day will not fit an adult who is still working, studying or raising children. Younger adults are included in what Apollo Home Healthcare North West is registered to support. Ask how far visit times can move, whether support can include getting to appointments or activities, and how fast the plan can be revised.
