About Us
We provide care and support in people's own homes in Wallsend and across North Tyneside, working with adults who have learning disabilities and with autistic adults.
Most of the people we support have a long life ahead of them and their own ideas about how to live it. Support in that situation is not about keeping somebody safe and occupied. It is about making a particular life workable, whether that means keeping a tenancy, holding down a job or a college place, seeing friends, managing money or travelling independently.
So we begin with what the person wants rather than with a list of needs. Plans are written with them, in a form they can actually use, with family or an advocate involved if they want that, and revised as things change rather than at fixed review dates.
We keep the team around each person small and we introduce new support workers properly. For autistic people that consistency matters more than almost anything, along with notice of change well in advance and attention to sensory needs. Where somebody communicates through signing, pictures, objects or their own familiar gestures, our staff learn their way of doing it.
Support can cover personal care, medication, cooking and shopping, help with money and correspondence, getting out, and simply having somebody alongside on a difficult day.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support.
