About Us

We are Extra Hands of Heacham, working from our Broadland base to support people in their own homes across Norwich and the surrounding parts of Norfolk. Our work covers a wide span. We visit older people who need help to start and end the day, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing mental ill health, people with a physical disability, and people with sight or hearing loss. We also support adults living with an eating disorder and adults affected by alcohol or drug use, and we work with younger adults as well as older ones.

Support is planned with the person in their own home before anything starts, and it covers what they want help with and what they would rather keep doing themselves. We work alongside GPs, community teams and social workers so that our visits fit with everything else going on, and we keep the same carers with the same households wherever the rota allows.

We should be straightforward with you about inspection. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather you heard that from us. If you are considering us for yourself or a relative, ask us what the inspectors found, what we have changed since and how we are checking that it has stuck. Ask about timekeeping, about training, and about who you reach out of hours. Those are fair questions and we will answer them plainly.
