About Us

Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees provides home care to people living in and around Huddersfield and across Kirklees. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, those managing a mental health condition, and younger adults who need support at home.

Our work is simple to describe and takes real care to do well. We help people carry on living in their own homes, with as much support as they want and no more. Every arrangement begins with a proper conversation about how somebody likes their day to run, what they still manage perfectly well themselves and where a hand would genuinely make a difference. That becomes a written plan in plain language which we follow and revisit as circumstances change.

Visits can cover personal care, help with medication, preparing meals, household tasks, shopping, getting to appointments and simply spending time with someone. Loneliness is a real part of the picture for many of the people we visit, and we treat company as part of the job rather than an extra.

Continuity matters a great deal, so we keep the team around each person small. Familiar faces at predictable times mean a lot, and carers who know someone notice when things are different.
