About Us

At Isaac Newton House, we provide home care support to people living in Hull and the surrounding area. We work with a wide range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, and people living with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also support people who are working through challenges related to alcohol or drug misuse.

We believe that people are best supported in familiar surroundings, and our work is built around helping individuals maintain their independence and live comfortably in their own homes. Every person we support has their own circumstances, routines, and preferences, and we take the time to understand what matters to each individual so that the care we provide genuinely fits around their life rather than the other way around.

Our team is made up of people who take real pride in the relationships they build with those they support. Consistency matters to us, and we work hard to ensure that the people we care for are not simply passed between different faces from one visit to the next. Familiar, trusted support makes a real difference to how people feel day to day.

We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of good, which reflects the commitment of everyone who works with us. That said, we are always looking at how we can improve and grow, because there is always more to learn when it comes to supporting people well.

If you are looking for home care support for yourself or someone close to you in Hull, we would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation about how we might be able to help. We are here to listen, and there is no pressure or obligation in reaching out to us.

More about the care at Isaac Newton House

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Older people rarely want their whole day managed, just the parts that have become awkward, such as the shower, the pill box and the cooker. A call in the morning and another at teatime is a common pattern, with conversation thrown in at no extra charge. Isaac Newton House is registered for older person care across the city. Ask how long each visit is, how many carers would come over a fortnight, and how the office deals with delays or sickness. Find out whether evening, weekend and overnight calls are on offer before you commit to anything. Hourly rates in Yorkshire and Humberside tend to fall between £25 and £30, and the city council can assess anyone who might be eligible for help.

Learning Disability / Autism

Support worth having for an adult with a learning disability or autism is shaped by that individual's routines, communication and sensory tolerances. Isaac Newton House is registered to work with this group. The council in Hull would usually commission and review such a package, so ask how independence goals are agreed and how staff are briefed on personal preferences.

Mental Health

Turning up when promised, treating someone as an adult and keeping the week in shape are the practical foundations of mental health support at home. Mental health is one of the categories Isaac Newton House is registered for. Ask what relevant experience the carers have, how they would notice someone becoming unwell, and which services they would call on in a crisis.

Physical Disability

Where mobility is reduced, the layout of the home and the equipment in it determine what can be done safely. Isaac Newton House is registered to support people with a physical disability. Ask whether carers are trained on the hoist or aid in use, whether double handed calls are available, and how the plan protects the things someone can still do.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Small disciplines count where sight or hearing is failing, such as speaking face to face, keeping the lights on and putting everything back exactly as found. Isaac Newton House is registered to support people with visual or hearing impairment. Families should ask how these needs are recorded, whether written material can come in large print, and how carers confirm that a message has been received.

Alcohol / Drug Misuse

Recovery from dependency tends to rest on clear boundaries, practical routine and support that does not moralise. Alcohol and drug misuse is a registered category for Isaac Newton House. Ask what experience the staff have of dependency, how a relapse would be handled, and which local treatment or recovery services they work alongside.

Younger Adults

Needs that arrive early in life do not come with a retirement timetable attached, so flexibility matters more than anything. Adults under 65 are among the groups Isaac Newton House is registered to support. Ask how far calls can be shifted around work or study, how carers are matched, and what goals besides personal care are recorded.
