About BEAM ABA Services
We are BEAM ABA, and we provide support in people's own homes in Islington and the surrounding parts of London. Our work is with autistic people and people with learning disabilities, including many younger adults, and our approach draws on applied behaviour analysis. What that means in practice is that we take the time to understand why something is happening before we try to change it. A person who is distressed, or who is not doing something they want to be able to do, usually has a good reason, and our job is to work out what that reason is. We look carefully at how somebody communicates, at what makes a day feel manageable and at what gets in the way, and we plan support with the person and their family rather than for them. Progress is measured honestly, so we can tell whether what we are doing is actually helping. Alongside that, our support covers the practical side of life at home, and we work closely with families, schools, colleges and the health professionals involved so that everybody is pulling in the same direction.
