About Us

Helpers Homecare supports adults in their own homes in Letchworth Garden City and the surrounding part of Hertfordshire. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. We also support people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse.

Our visits cover personal care, medicines, meals, the household, shopping and getting out and about, arranged around the times that suit the person rather than the times that suit a rota. Some people want one brief call each morning. Others need several visits a day, or longer stretches of support, and for some the company matters as much as the tasks.

Continuity is what makes home care work. Being helped with personal care by somebody you have never met is genuinely difficult, and for anybody living with dementia an unfamiliar face can unsettle an entire morning, so we keep the team around each person small and give notice when a change is unavoidable. For people recovering from alcohol or drug misuse, reliability and an absence of judgement are most of the job.
