About Journey Up

Journey Up is a home care agency in Hatfield, supporting people in their own homes across Hertfordshire. We work with younger adults and older people, with people living with mental health needs and with people affected by an eating disorder. Support at home for mental health is a different job from personal care, and we treat it as such. It is often about structure rather than tasks: being there in the morning when getting up feels impossible, keeping appointments from slipping, helping somebody re establish a routine after a spell in hospital, and being a steady presence through the stretch where recovery stalls. Progress is rarely linear and we do not treat a difficult fortnight as a failure. With eating disorders we work carefully and always alongside the specialist teams involved. Mealtimes can be the hardest part of someone's day, and support at those moments needs to be patient, consistent and free of judgement or bargaining. We follow the clinical plan rather than improvising around food, and we keep the focus on the person rather than the numbers. Across all of it, we try to be the sort of support that does not take over. Our aim is for people to need us less over time where that is realistic, and to be reliable for as long as they need us. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We are happy to talk in detail about how we work before anyone commits.

More about the care at Journey Up

Home Care at Journey Up

Twenty six of the 54 agencies in this area are rated Good or Outstanding, and Journey Up has no rating since registering in October 2026. It is registered to provide personal care in people's own homes across Hertfordshire, with a narrower and more specialised span than most. The agency says its aim is that people should need it less over time, which is an unusual thing for a provider to put in writing. Hourly rates in the East of England usually fall between £28 and £33, with Hertfordshire council carrying out the assessment where public help may apply. Ask about minimum visit lengths, travel time and how hours are reviewed.

Older Person Care at Journey Up

Journey Up came onto the register on 6 October 2026, so it is a very new service. Its registration covers older person care and home care alongside mental health and eating disorders, which is an unusual combination. For older people the work would be the familiar ground of help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and company, though the agency's own text says far more about its mental health and eating disorder work. That is worth probing, since a family will want to know how much older person care it actually does. Ask how many carers would attend a household in Hatfield, how late a call can run, and who can be reached in the evening.

Mental Health at Journey Up

Support at home for mental health is a different job from personal care, this agency says, and it treats it as such. It describes structure rather than tasks, being there when getting up feels impossible, and holding steady where recovery stalls. Ask who on the team has mental health experience, what happens in a crisis outside office hours, and how the agency works with community mental health services.

Younger Adults at Journey Up

Aiming for people to need the agency less over time is how Journey Up describes its purpose, which fits an adult under 65 better than most. It adds that progress is rarely linear and that a difficult fortnight is not treated as a failure. Ask how early and how late carers can call in Hatfield, and whether the same small group can follow a week built around work or study.

Eating Disorders at Journey Up

Mealtimes can be the hardest part of somebody's day, this agency says, and support at those moments needs to be patient, consistent and free of judgement or bargaining. It also says it follows the clinical plan rather than improvising, and keeps the focus on the person rather than the numbers. Ask which specialist team leads that plan, how mealtime support is recorded, and how often it is reviewed.
