Cherish Social Care is a home care agency supporting people in their own homes across Hatfield and the surrounding parts of Hertfordshire. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, those with a physical disability, and younger adults who need support to live independently. Our starting point is always the person rather than the package. We meet, we ask how they like their day to run, what they still want to do for themselves and where a hand would genuinely make a difference, and we write that down in plain language so that everyone involved knows what good support looks like. As needs change we review and adjust rather than carrying on regardless. Visits can cover personal care, medication, meals, household tasks, shopping, appointments and company, from a brief morning call through to support across the day. For people with a learning disability or autism we adapt how we communicate to suit the individual and focus on supporting independence rather than taking over. We keep teams small so that people see faces they recognise, train our carers for the specific needs they will meet, and make sure families can always reach someone.
