About Inshore Support - Supported Living

Inshore Support provides supported living for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults in Stourbridge and the surrounding area. Our support is given where people live, in their own tenancies, and the point of it is a settled, ordinary life rather than a service that takes over. What that looks like depends entirely on the person. For one it may be help with cooking, shopping, laundry, bills and appointments. For someone else the important part is simply having staff who understand how they communicate, what they find overwhelming and how they like the day to be ordered. We spend time getting to know somebody before making plans, and we involve the people who know them best. Routines are respected, because a change that looks small to us can be a large thing for the person living it. When something does have to change we explain it properly and give people time. Our staff are trained in the particular ways each person needs to be supported, including communication and positive approaches when somebody is distressed, and we keep teams consistent because familiarity does the real work.
