About AbilityAvenue Care

We are AbilityAvenue Care, based in Sherborne and supporting people in their own homes across this part of Dorset. We work with older people and people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and younger adults who need support to live independently. Given that range, we do not offer one standard package. We visit first, talk properly with the person and with family where that is wanted, and agree what the support should genuinely cover. It might be a single call each morning, several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and household tasks, or support that is as much about routine and encouragement as anything practical. Working across a largely rural area means being honest about distance. We plan rounds around real travel times so that visits are not cut short to make up a schedule, and we would rather decline a package than take one on and deliver it badly. We keep the same carers with the same households wherever the rota allows, train our staff for the work they actually do, and stay reachable when a family needs to speak to somebody. Please get in touch to discuss what would help.
