About Us
Agincare Live in Care in the South West arranges live in support for people in their own homes across Dorset and the wider region, working from our base in Portland. We support older people, adults living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults.
Live in support is a particular kind of arrangement. Somebody moves into a person's home and shares the rhythm of it, which means the match between the two of them matters as much as any care plan. We spend real time on that before anything starts: what somebody wants help with, what they would rather manage themselves, how they like their household run, and what sort of person they would actually want around.
For people living with dementia, having one familiar person there rather than a stream of short visits can make a great deal of difference, and it allows care to follow the person's own rhythm rather than a rota. Where we support autistic adults, people with learning disabilities and younger adults, the emphasis is on enabling rather than doing, and on fitting around work, study and family life.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
If you are considering live in support, please get in touch and we will be straightforward about what it involves.
