About Sky Home Living

Sky Home Living provides care and support to people in their own homes in Newton Abbot and the surrounding part of Devon. We support older people and younger adults, and our experience includes dementia and physical disabilities. Our work is the practical sort. Help to get up, washed and dressed, and help to settle at night. Support with medication. Meals prepared and the house kept in order. A hand with shopping, appointments and getting out. For some people that is one visit a day, for others several, worked out with them at home rather than decided for them. We should be open with you about where we stand. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We did not dispute the findings. Since then we have tightened the way we schedule and monitor visits, strengthened our handling of medicines and the records we keep, increased supervision and training for our carers, and had senior staff check the care actually delivered rather than the care described on paper. The work is not finished and we are not going to pretend it is. We would rather raise that ourselves than have a family discover it later, and we are glad to go through the detail and what has changed with anyone who asks. What we are aiming at has not altered: carers who arrive when they said they would, who know the person they are visiting, and who help in a way that keeps somebody independent at home.
