About Oak Homecare
Oak Homecare provides home care to adults in Exeter and the surrounding part of Devon. We support older people and younger adults, including people with physical disabilities. Most people contact us for a straightforward reason. They intend to stay in their own home, and a handful of practical difficulties are getting in the way. So those are what we take on: help with washing and dressing, medicines taken as they should be, meals cooked and actually eaten, the housework and the shopping kept under control, and a reliable way of getting out to appointments and to see people. We arrange visits around the person's day rather than around ours, and we would rather agree a pattern we can genuinely keep than an ambitious one that falls apart in the first difficult week. Where somebody has a physical disability, we work out together how they want to be helped and how much time they actually need, which is often more than a schedule allows for. For younger adults it is often about building the practical skills independent living asks for, and there we count it a success when we are needed less as time goes on. We agree the support with the person and, where they want it, with their family, and we look at the plan again whenever circumstances change rather than leaving it as first written.
