About Us

Horizon Care in the South West supports adults in their own homes in Exeter and the surrounding area, and most of the people we work with are younger adults. That shapes how we do things. Support is built around what somebody is trying to get on with, whether that is work, study, a home of their own or simply more control over how the week runs.

We help with the practical side of living independently: cooking, shopping, laundry, managing bills and keeping on top of appointments. We also support people to get out and about, to use local transport, to keep up with friends and family and to take part in whatever they are involved in locally.

Just as important is how we work. We take time to learn how a person communicates, what they find difficult and what a bad day looks like for them, and we plan with them rather than for them. Where something has to change we explain it properly and give people time to take it in. We would rather go slowly at the start than get it wrong.

Our staff are trained for the individuals they support, and we keep teams as consistent as we can, because trust is built over months rather than in one visit.
