About White Leaf Support

White Leaf Support provides care and support to people in their own homes in High Wycombe and across Buckinghamshire. We work with older people, younger adults, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. A good deal of our work is with people who have a long life ahead of them and their own ideas about how to live it. Support in that situation is not about keeping somebody safe and occupied. It is about making a particular life workable, whether that means keeping a tenancy, holding down a job or a college place, seeing friends or managing money. So we begin with what the person wants rather than a list of needs. Plans are written with them, in a form they can actually use, involving family or an advocate if they want that, and revised as things change. We keep the team around each person small and introduce new support workers properly. For autistic people that consistency matters more than almost anything, along with notice of change well in advance and attention to sensory needs. Where somebody communicates through signing, pictures, objects or their own familiar gestures, our staff learn their way of doing it. For older people the work is often more practical. Personal care, medication, meals, housework, shopping, appointments and company. It is judged on the same things either way, which are turning up when we said and sending somebody who knows the household. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support in the area.
