About Us

Here at Eleanor Nursing and Social Care in Bristol, we provide home care support to people across the city who need a little extra help to live well in their own homes. We work with a wide range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments.

We know that inviting someone into your home is a significant decision, and we take that trust seriously. Our team works hard to get to know each person properly before care begins, because good care only happens when you genuinely understand someone's routines, preferences, and what matters most to them day to day. We are not about one size fitting all. We take time to build relationships that feel natural and respectful, so that the people we support feel comfortable and in control of their own lives.

Our Bristol team is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistent effort our staff put in across every visit, every day. We are proud of that rating, though we see it as confirmation that we are on the right track rather than a reason to stop improving.

Whether we are supporting someone who needs a short daily visit or someone who requires more complex ongoing care, we approach every situation with the same level of attention and care. We work closely with families too, keeping communication open and honest so that everyone involved feels informed and reassured.

If you are looking for home care in Bristol for yourself or someone you love, we would be very happy to have a conversation about how we might be able to help. Please do get in touch and we can talk through what support might look like for your individual situation.

More about the care at Eleanor Nursing and Social Care Ltd - Bristol Office

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

A good overall rating was published for this Bristol office after an inspection in July 2021. For older people the work is help with washing and dressing, medication prompts, meals and the company of somebody calling in regularly. The agency says its team gets to know each person properly before care begins, because good care depends on understanding routines, preferences and what matters day to day. It describes the rating as confirmation that it is on the right track rather than a reason to stop improving. Ask how many carers would attend one household in a fortnight, how late a call can be arranged, and who can be reached in the evening.

Dementia

Eight categories of need appear on this Bristol registration, dementia among them. Home care for dementia depends on routines that hold, visits arriving when expected and a carer the person already recognises at the door. The agency's argument that good care only happens when you genuinely understand someone's routines and preferences fits that well. Its good rating dates from July 2021, so it is worth asking what has changed in the years since. Ask what dementia training carers receive, what they do when someone is distressed or will not let them in, and how the plan is revised as the condition advances.

Learning Disability / Autism

Not believing in one size fitting all is how this agency puts its approach, which is the only workable starting point for a learning disability or autism. Support there rests on person centred planning, patience over independence skills, predictable routines and attention to sensory needs. Ask who holds the relevant training, how Bristol commissions and reviews the hours, and how often the plan is revisited.

Mental Health

Feeling comfortable and in control of their own lives is what this agency says it wants for the people it supports. For mental health that is the right aim, since stability, routine and ordinary dignity usually help more than any programme. Ask who on the team has mental health experience, what happens in a crisis outside office hours, and how the agency works with community mental health services.

Physical Disability

Registration for this Bristol office dates from 14 May 2020, so the agency is established rather than new. Where a physical disability is involved, support turns on personal care, safe moving and handling, and whatever equipment is already in the house. Ask how carers are matched to those needs, who reviews them as they change, and what the agency will not attempt.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Support for sight or hearing loss is included in what this agency is registered to provide, which not every home care service covers. Practical help means good lighting, keeping things in the same place, clear speech and carers who announce themselves on arrival. Ask what training carers have had, how written information is provided, and how hearing aids or other equipment are checked.

Younger Adults

At £28 to £33 an hour across the South West, a substantial package for a younger adult is a commitment measured in years. The agency is registered for younger adults alongside older people and says it works around the individual. Ask how early and how late carers can call in Bristol, and whether the same small group can cover a week shaped by work or study.
