We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with sight or hearing loss and younger adults who need support to manage everyday life. Our name is the whole point of the job. Letting someone into your home, at your most private moments, takes trust, and that is built through small reliable things rather than grand statements. Arriving when we said we would. Sending the same faces. Knocking rather than walking in. Asking before moving somebody's things. Writing down honestly what happened on a visit. The support itself ranges from a short morning call through to several longer visits each day. We help with washing and dressing, prompting and administering medication, meals, shopping and laundry, and we spend time with people who might otherwise go days without a proper conversation. For people living with dementia we keep routines and faces as steady as we can, because unfamiliarity is what unsettles people most. Our carers are trained before they work alone, supervised in people's homes afterwards and expected to raise anything that concerns them the same day. We have not yet had a full inspection as a newer team, so we would rather you tested us with questions than took our word for anything.
