We are a home care agency working across Birmingham, visiting people in their own homes to provide the support that makes staying there realistic and comfortable. Our calls are arranged around the person. That could be a short visit each morning, several visits through the day and evening, or longer periods of support and company. We help with washing and dressing, medication, preparing meals, light household tasks, shopping and getting out to appointments, and we take the view that the person receiving care is the one who decides how it should work. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Birmingham is a varied city and the people we visit reflect that, so we pay real attention to language, culture, food and routine. Care that ignores those things is not personal, whatever else it may be. Plans are agreed with the person and, where they want it, with their family, and reviewed properly as needs change. Where something concerns a carer during a visit, we raise it the same day. Keeping the same carers going to the same households is a priority for us, because it is how somebody notices early that a person is not quite themselves.
