About Miles Care

Miles Care is a home care agency in Barking, supporting people across Barking and Dagenham in their own homes. Most of the people we visit are older, a good number are living with dementia, and we also support younger adults and people with a physical disability. We are in the business of keeping people where they would rather be. For some that means a short visit in the morning to get the day started safely. For others it is several calls a day, help with medication, a hand with washing and dressing, meals made, and a watchful eye on how someone is doing. The support should fit the person and it should change when the person does. Dementia asks something particular of a carer. You cannot hurry it and you cannot reason someone out of the world they are in. What works is familiarity, a calm voice and knowing the person's history well enough to find a way in. That is why we are stubborn about sending the same small group of carers rather than whoever is free. Families do an enormous amount in this borough, usually without much fanfare. Part of our job is making sure they get a break and that they are not the last to hear when something changes. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We are glad to talk through how we work and to put you in touch with people we already support.

More about the care at Miles Care

Dementia Care at Miles Care

You cannot hurry dementia and you cannot reason somebody out of the world they are in, this agency says, which is a fair summary of what carers have to learn. What works instead is familiarity, a calm voice and knowing enough of a person's history to find a way in. Miles Care is registered for dementia care in Barking and Dagenham and has no inspection rating yet. The same small group of carers rather than whoever is free is its stated method, which is the right one for this work. Ask how carers respond to distress, what is in place if somebody is unsafe alone between visits, and how the plan changes as dementia advances.

Home Care at Miles Care

Across London the indicative figure is £30 to £36 an hour, which is a guide to the market rather than this agency's own charge. Miles Care holds a home care registration covering Barking and Dagenham, working with older people, people living with dementia, younger adults and people with a physical disability. It says it is stubborn about sending the same small group of carers rather than whoever is free. Families in the borough do an enormous amount without fanfare, and the agency counts giving them a break, and telling them early when something changes, as part of the job. Ask what the minimum visit is, how rounds are planned, and who answers the phone out of hours.

Older Person Care at Miles Care

Keeping people where they would rather be is how this Barking agency describes its business. Miles Care is registered for older person care and visits people across Barking and Dagenham, with a registration dated 8 October 2026 and no inspection yet. For some that means a short visit in the morning to get the day started safely, and for others several calls a day with help with medication, washing and dressing, meals made and a watchful eye on how somebody is doing. It says support should fit the person and change when the person does. Ask how quickly a package can be adjusted, how late the last call runs, and what happens if a carer cannot arrive.

Younger Adults at Miles Care

Most of the people this agency visits are older, but adults under 65 are covered by its registration too. For somebody of that age support usually has to work around a job, a course or a social life, so the timing of calls matters. Ask how flexible visit times are and how carers are matched to a younger household.

Physical Disability at Miles Care

Among the care types on this Barking registration is physical disability, alongside older person and dementia care. At home the questions are equipment and access, so ask whether carers are trained on the hoist or transfer aid you use. Check how the agency works with Barking and Dagenham occupational therapy when adaptations are needed.
