About Abbey House
Abbey House is a residential care home in Evesham, Worcestershire, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including people with physical disabilities. We also offer respite stays for people who need a place for a shorter period. This is a house where people live their own lives rather than a setting where things are done to them. People choose how their rooms look, take part in shopping, cooking and keeping the place going as much as they want to and are able to, and get out to what they genuinely enjoy in Evesham and across the Vale. Where somebody wants a job, a course or a regular club, we build the support around making it realistic. The work is won in the detail. How much noise there is in a room. Whether a change of staff or plan has been flagged days in advance rather than sprung on somebody. Which way of communicating actually reaches a person, whether that is speech, symbols, writing or simply patience and time. Where somebody has a physical disability, equipment and layout are set up to help them do things for themselves rather than getting in the way. We keep the staff team consistent and work closely with families, social workers and health colleagues. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Visitors and referrers are welcome.
