About Newhaven Care
We are a residential home in Wallasey supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. The house runs as a household rather than an institution. The people who live here have their own rooms and their own things, and they take part in deciding how the place works: what is cooked, when meals happen, what gets bought and what everyone does at the weekend. That may sound a modest sort of choice, but for adults who have often had very little say in daily life it is the heart of what we are trying to do. Support is built around each person and what they want to be able to do. For some that means work, college or volunteering. For others it is about getting out regularly, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff, learning to do more in the kitchen, or simply having people around who understand how they communicate and what unsettles them. Predictability counts for a great deal here, so we keep staffing as consistent as we can and try not to change arrangements without warning and proper explanation. Respite stays are available as well as longer places, which can give a family a planned break while the person stays somewhere settled and properly supported. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for a place for yourself or someone in your family, please come and visit and ask us anything.

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.

Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
