About The Berkeley
The Berkeley is a residential care home in Northampton supporting a wide range of adults. We work with older people, with adults who have a learning disability and autistic adults, with people living with mental health conditions and with people who have sight or hearing loss. Many of the people here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say so here than leave a family to discover it later. We know what was identified, work is under way to put it right, and we will go through the detail honestly with anybody considering the home. The work itself is about ordinary life supported well. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat and how a weekend is spent. Support is planned individually and reviewed as people change. For autistic people, and anybody who finds unpredictability difficult, we treat the environment as part of the care. Where somebody lives with a mental health condition, we work with community teams so that a hard period is met with patience and consistency. Please come and see the home on a normal day, talk to the people who live here and form your own view. We would rather be judged that way.
