About Woodside Care Village
We are Woodside Care Village in Warwick, Warwickshire. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays. With that range of needs in one place, support has to be planned person by person. We take time at the start to work out how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them, and we change the plan when it stops describing reality. Where dementia and a sensory impairment occur together, which happens often, we check the simple explanation first. A hearing aid that is not working accounts for a great deal that would otherwise be recorded as confusion, and a room somebody cannot make sense of will unsettle anyone. Respite guests are assessed and welcomed exactly as permanent residents are, whether they are recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
