About Hatfield House
Hatfield House is a residential care home in Coventry. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, and we offer respite stays for people who need a short break or whose family carer needs one. The house belongs to the people who live in it, and we try to make that obvious from the moment you come through the door. Everyone has their own room and their own belongings, and a say in how the place is run, from the shopping list to what happens at the weekend. Support is planned with each person, in a form they can use, covering how they like to be helped, what they enjoy, what they find difficult and what they want to be doing with their time. People go out into Coventry, keep up college, work, clubs and family contact, and supporting that is the point of the place rather than an extra when the rota allows. Where somebody does not use speech, we learn the ways they do tell us things and make sure every member of the team understands them. When someone becomes distressed we treat it as communication and look for the cause, and anything that limits a person's freedom is agreed formally, recorded and reviewed with a view to reducing it. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Families, advocates and professionals are welcome to visit.
