About Weaver House

Weaver House is a residential care home in Bedworth in Warwickshire, supporting adults, including younger adults, who have a learning disability or autism. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. We think of the people here as living in their own home rather than being placed in a service, and we try to make that real rather than a form of words. People arrange their own rooms, keep their own routines and have a genuine say in how the house is run. Support is offered for the parts of life that are hard and withdrawn from the parts that are not, because independence grows when it is given room. Day to day that might mean cooking and shopping together, sorting out money, learning a route into town, keeping a job or a course going, or having the right help with appointments and letters. Where somebody communicates without speech we take time to learn how they do communicate and we write it down so that all our staff respond in the same way. When life becomes difficult we look for the reason instead of the label, and we agree in advance, in calm moments, what actually helps. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would rather say that plainly. The most useful thing you can do is visit, meet the team and talk to the people who live here and their families.
