About Sunnyfield
We are a residential home in Pontefract supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. The house runs as a household rather than an institution. Everyone has their own room and their own things, and the week is worked out between the people who live here and the staff supporting them: what is cooked, when the shopping is done, who wants to go out and where to. Those are small matters that add up to whether somebody feels at home or merely accommodated. Support is built around what each person wants to be able to do. For some that means a job, a college course or a regular volunteering day. For others it is getting out regularly, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff, or learning to cook something new. We take the long view, since progress in this work is usually gradual and the gains that matter are often ones nobody outside the house would notice. Consistency counts for a great deal, particularly for autistic people, so we keep staffing as settled as we can and explain changes before they happen. Respite stays are available alongside longer places. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are pleased with that and conscious that a rating describes a moment rather than a guarantee. Please come and visit and meet the people who live here.
