About Hemsworth Park
Hemsworth Park is a residential care home in Pontefract. We care for older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays. As a residential setting our work is daily life supported well, with general practitioners, district nurses and other community professionals involved when they are needed. What we aim for is a house where people are known rather than managed, which sounds obvious and takes discipline because the pressures of a rota pull the other way. It means unrushed help with washing and dressing, medication given reliably, food worth looking forward to and staff who notice when a resident is quieter than usual. For people living with dementia we keep the routine predictable and the faces familiar. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out here than have a family come across it later. There is an agreed plan for the areas identified, we are working through it, and anyone considering the home should ask us directly what has changed and what has not yet.
