About Cornerways
Cornerways is a residential care home in Paignton for older people, including those living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. We are close enough to the sea that a trip out along the front is part of ordinary life here rather than an occasion. Care is given quietly and at the pace that suits the person. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is arranged around somebody's own timing, and we take the trouble to learn the small preferences that usually get lost in a move, so that nobody has to keep explaining themselves. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried, and we use what families tell us about a person's working life, their family and what calms them when they are anxious. Where mobility is difficult we pay attention to the practical side, from equipment that actually suits to getting about the house safely. Meals are cooked on the premises and mealtimes are sociable rather than rushed. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would far rather hear a concern early than late. Short respite stays are available, often to give a carer at home a rest or to help somebody regain confidence after time in hospital. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see us.
